Nature in action: Trees, blooms, Chinese mergansers & a playful panda

In 2024 China made big strides in greening efforts, planting 4.45 million hectares of trees to restore ecosystems. Meanwhile, scientists in southern China identified a new species of Rhododendron, adding to the country's rich biodiversity. In Yichang, over 200 rare Chinese mergansers were spotted along the Yangtze River, a hopeful sign for this endangered species. And in central China, a giant panda stole hearts as it rolled around in the snow, reminding us of the simple joys of winter.
